Tailor-Made Measurements

How to measure your garment for a precision fit

Djellaba · Gandora · Caftan

All three of our garment styles share the same three key measurements. Take them from a garment you already own that fits well, or use the instructions below to measure yourself. Watch: How to measure yourself

01
CF ARMPIT ½ CHEST GARMENT LAID FLAT

Half Chest

With the garment laid flat, measure straight across from the centre fold to the side seam, at armpit level — right at the underarm junction.

Record the ½ chest only — do not double it. We use the half measurement as the standard for all our sizing.
02
BACK OF NECK CUFF ARM LENGTH GARMENT LAID FLAT

Arm Length

With the garment laid flat, measure in a straight diagonal line from the back of the neck all the way to the sleeve cuff.

Keep the tape straight — do not follow the sleeve edge. One clean diagonal from neck to wrist.
03
SHOULDER HEM LENGTH GARMENT LAID FLAT

Garment Length

With the garment laid flat, measure from the top of the shoulder seam straight down along the centre front to the bottom hem.

Measure along the centre fold for a straight, accurate reading.

Step-by-Step Guide

1
Prepare a clean, flat surface. Lay the garment on a table or the floor. Smooth out all folds and wrinkles before measuring.
2
Use a flexible tape measure. Avoid rulers or rigid measures — they won't follow the curves of the fabric accurately.
3
Measure ½ Chest. With the garment laid flat, measure straight across at armpit level — from the centre fold to the side seam. Record this half value as-is; do not double it.
4
Measure Arm Length. Place one end of the tape at the back of the neck and run it in a straight diagonal line to the sleeve cuff. No bends — one clean straight measurement.
5
Measure Length. From the very top of the shoulder seam, measure straight down the centre of the garment to the bottom hem. Keep the tape parallel to the centre fold.
6
Measure twice, record once. Take each measurement at least twice and use the average. Note whether your values are in inches or centimetres — we prefer centimetres for precision.

Garment Notes

Djellaba

The djellaba has a traditional wide sleeve and a full-length body. Pay particular attention to arm length — it is the longest of the three styles and a key factor in fit. The hood and front opening do not affect the three core measurements.

Gandora

The gandora is a shorter, hood-free silhouette. Arm length is shorter than the djellaba. The chest and length measurements follow the same method — measure from the centre fold down and outward.

Caftan

The caftan has a narrower body than the djellaba or gandora. The ½ chest will read smaller relative to body weight — this is by design. Focus on length to ensure the hem falls where you intend.
